011: Networking - It's About Sharing, Not Receiving With Paul Kitching

SHOW NOTES

Networking is not all about exchanging information but mainly functions as a medium for creating long-term relationships with mutual gains. Often perceived as selling, networking gives you the chance to meet people who can help you, and you can assist them in return.

Once you understand that networking is all about sharing and not receiving, you’ll find it easier to network with other people. Although not everyone’s strong suit, some of the most successful people in the corporate space have attributed their success to the strong networking channels they have created over time.

Many people pay lots of money to attend networking events, but very few know how to network successfully. If you are struggling with creating meaningful networks, this episode is for you. We traverse through the Networking world with Paul Kitching and answer some crucial questions like why you need to network, the skills you need to succeed in networking, and how to ensure people remember you after the events.

GUEST'S BIO

Paul Kitching - aka PK - is the Business Development Manager for Fuller Brand Communication - a role that requires him to keep Fuller’s brand profile strong and to therefore remain super positive and optimistic at all times…right now even more so than ever.

PK has been with Fuller for five years whilst his background includes working in retail at Country Road, writing for iconic local magazine ‘Rip It Up’ as well as working in media sales for the magazine and then managing the sales team: a career in retail, media and marketing sales now 20 years strong.

In fact it was Country Road’s sales training with its focus on positivity and attitude that set PK’s optimism alight…whilst the loss of both his sister and mother has been the stark reminder that you have to seize every day and make the most of life!

Recently whilst we’ve all had to cope with many challenges, PK has created an online networking event called ‘Coffee with PK’ where anyone can join for a virtual coffee and enjoy some much needed social interaction, share gratitude, make some new contacts and be energised with positivity and optimism.
